Lab-Grown Ruby Rose Gold Engagement Ring | Red Carbuncle Inspired Custom Design
At the heart of this design is the Red Carbuncle, whose spirit inspired a custom engagement ring refined and timeless in form. Rather than placing the figure itself onto a ring, Takayas shaped a piece that quietly carries its essence, transformed into an elegant design meant to be worn and cherished every day. With this vision in mind, he began bringing the details to life.
Takayas brought this vision to life in 14K rose gold, centering an approximately one-carat lab-grown ruby. The bold prongs that rise to hold the ruby were shaped as the Carbuncle’s ears, framing the stone with a graceful curve. Flowing up the shank, the design abstractly evokes the creature’s tail, lifting to cradle the gem as if in a gentle embrace.
The sides of the band carry subtle nods to the summoner’s headpiece, worked into the rose gold with fine sculptural detail. Along the profile, delicate engravings echo the lines of the summoner’s jacket, weaving small fragments of the game into refined jewelry art.
To enrich the story, the central ruby is flanked by aquamarine and citrine, recalling Carbuncle’s other variations. Pear-cut pink sapphires, Tegan’s favorite color, sparkle along the band, their soft tones blending beautifully with rose gold. In CAD renders the ring appeared heavy, but the finished piece emerged light and balanced, with polished contours made for daily wear.
When the rings arrived, Tegan described them as beautiful and perfect. She wrote that she could not stop staring at her ring, and loved how her nails matched the rose gold tone. Her words captured the quiet joy of seeing a personal story transformed into a cherished symbol of love.
