Lab-Grown Alexandrite Engagement Ring | Designed by Takayas

When Andrew set out to create an engagement ring for Sarah, he asked for a design that felt personal and refined. He preferred a contemporary interpretation of a classic style, with open work along the shank and a smooth, flowing profile.

Handcrafted in 14K white gold, the ring centers a 1-carat lab-grown alexandrite. Known for its subtle color change, alexandrite is often associated with balance and change, which suits the quiet, modern character of the piece.

Along the shank, intertwined vine motifs create gentle movement while keeping the overall silhouette clean for everyday wear. The side galleries include a sun and moon motif, a simple expression of complement and balance. Ten small accent diamonds frame the center without drawing attention away from it.

Every element was considered to work together in a clear, understated way. The result is a custom design that reflects Andrew’s requests and Sarah’s style through thoughtful details rather than decoration.

The finished ring feels calm and alive at once, its openwork curves echoing the quiet motion of light within the alexandrite. As the stone shifts in color, it mirrors the natural changes that shape two lives together, making this piece not only a symbol of their engagement but also a quiet reflection of their story
