Gundam Inspired Wedding Band with Lab Grown Blue Sapphire and Ruby

Over the past three weeks, we have introduced a series of custom rings inspired by the world of Gundam. For the final feature in this collection, we are pleased to share Roland’s wedding band. Following the engagement ring and the second wedding band presented earlier, this last piece draws on design motifs from Gundam Epyon and Strike Freedom. Their characteristic forms were carefully reinterpreted into a refined structure suitable for everyday wear, then brought together as a single cohesive ring.

Takayas began by considering how each structural element would interact with the overall flow of the band. The long curve inspired by Epyon’s tail became the underlying line that shapes the ring. Sharp patterns reminiscent of its wings were arranged along the sides and refined so that they settle naturally into the surface. Each detail was adjusted to retain the presence of the motifs while allowing them to blend seamlessly into the final design.

The central area incorporates elements from Strike Freedom. Subtle upward forms echoing its antenna were added as accents, while a symmetrical structure inspired by its chest unit frames the gemstones. The client selected a blue sapphire for the center and rubies for both sides. The contrast of blue and red creates a clear focal point and complements the mechanical aesthetic in a gentle way.

As the ring turns, the angles and lines reveal different expressions. The motifs are not portrayed literally, but reimagined as structural features that support the balance of the piece. Quiet attention to detail brings the design together, resulting in a wedding band that reflects the client’s vision with understated character.
