Gundam Inspired Lab Grown Emerald Engagement Ring | Custom Design by Takayas
When Denise reached out to us, she shared her love for the Gundam universe and her wish to incorporate its spirit into a unique engagement ring. Since Takayas has always appreciated the creativity and symbolism found in Gundam designs, this project grew into a meaningful collaboration that blended her vision with his artistic approach.
From the beginning, the goal was to create a piece that carried the essence of the series while remaining elegant, wearable and timeless. Instead of recreating mechanical details exactly as they appear in the animations, Takayas focused on interpreting key shapes and refining them into gentle, flowing forms that harmonize with fine jewelry. This allowed the design to retain a quiet strength while still feeling graceful on the hand.
At the center of the piece sits a vivid lab grown emerald. Its deep green tone recalls the luminous chest cores often seen in Gundam designs, becoming the symbolic heart of the ring. Takayas shaped the setting with subtle echoes of Wing Gundam Zero’s chest and antenna elements, refining the form so it feels smooth and elegant for everyday wear.
The shoulders of the ring take inspiration from Wing Zero’s iconic wings. Rather than replicating the feathers literally, he reimagined their sweeping motion into a sculpted flow that wraps gently along the finger, giving the design a soft sense of movement.
A pair of small lab grown emeralds accents each shoulder. These stones were inspired by the GN particle condensers seen on 00 Raiser, where concentrated energy gathers and glows quietly within the equipment. In the ring, they serve as a gentle nod to that imagery, adding a subtle rhythm of color that complements the central stone.
Once completed, the piece became a quiet fusion of strength and delicacy. Even without knowing its Gundam origins, the ring stands beautifully on its own. For those who recognize the motifs, it may offer an even deeper sense of connection and meaning.
