Custom Birthstone Pendants Celebrating the Bond Between Mother and Child

When Robert reached out to us with his vision, it was more than just a jewelry project. It was a deeply meaningful gesture, a timeless gift to celebrate the bond between a mother and her soon-to-be-born child. This pendant set was his way of honoring that special connection, one that would grow stronger with every shared moment.

Crafted in warm rose gold, this unique pair is united by a flowing, sculptural form that expresses a quiet strength and tenderness. Each pendant holds deeply personal significance, with subtle design choices that speak volumes once the story is known.

At first glance, the design appears as an elegant abstract form. But for those who understand the story behind it, the shape reveals a hidden silhouette, a mother gently embracing her child. Viewed from the side, the forms of the two figures come together naturally, reflecting a quiet, powerful intimacy. We intentionally avoided overly literal motifs, allowing the emotional resonance to speak through subtlety and form.

Each pendant carries a gemstone with deep personal meaning. The mother’s piece features a blue sapphire as its center stone, her birthstone. The child’s pendant is set with a peridot, their August birthstone. To symbolize their mutual connection, each piece also includes a small accent stone representing the other. Peridot is set into the mother’s, and sapphire into the child’s. In this way, both pendants reflect a bond of love and support, gently intertwining their stories.

In the child’s pendant, we also made a quiet adjustment for the years to come. The chain is 16 inches long but includes two additional jump rings at 12 inches and 14 inches. This thoughtful detail from Takayas allows the child to begin wearing the pendant even at a young age. As they grow, they can adjust the length and continue wearing this meaningful piece for years, keeping the connection close to their heart.
