Superman Butterfly Wedding Ring Set and Konami Mens Band

When Meagan and Marioapproached us with theirideas for a custom Superman and Konami wedding ring set, it was impossible not tobe excited. We're so happy to be able to share their story.

After visiting our studio for a consultation to discuss their planswith Takayas, Meagan decided on a butterfly engagement ring and wedding ringfor herself, and Mario decided on a wedding bandbased on the Konami Code.Both rings would also need to have Superman symbol incorporated into them.

Meagan's Superman and butterfly wedding ring set may be one of our favorite projects to date because it's a perfect representation of the balance we try to strike when designing pieces with comic book references. If interpreted too literally, superhero designs can quickly become the kryptonite of a timeless engagement ring. So for her ring set, Takayas decided to build both of her rings using the silhouette of a butterfly as the main focus, and forthe engagement ring, he subtly added the Superman "S" into the setting.

Mario's ring was a lot of fun because his band is actually a series of video game controller D-Pads linked together. His ring is based on the popular cheat code that appears in many Konami video games. If you look closely, you'll notice that in place of an arrow, each button is represented with the Superman symbol's diamond shape. The B and A buttons are in the back of the band.

The two of them were also kind enough to write about their experience working with us:

"While me and my then fiancé were wedding ring shopping we stumbled onto Takayas's work when we started searching for nerdy rings. It was then we seriously considered doing our own set of nerd centric wedding bands. To our surprise, Takayas's office was located in Downtown LA. So we were quite fortunate to be able to have a bunch of in person meetings. Through some of our conversations I found out that most of his customers where not from the LA area so we were a bit special in that regard. Takayas and his staff were an absolute pleasure whether we were corresponding through email or in person. All of Takayas's preliminary work on my wife's Superman Butterfly ring were amazing. The detail and artistry were superb. Even with a few images and a rough description, Takayas was able to create exactly what she wanted. When we finally got the actual finished product I was blow away by the craftsmanship. I didn't realize how small my wife's finger was but even with that constraint every single detail from the early renders made it into the final product. When I finally did propose, my wife was speechless. For the next 24 hours it seemed like she couldn't stop looking at her ring. Partly because we were finally engaged and partly because of the great job that Takayas did. As for my ring, the Konami code, I too was thoroughly pleased with the final product. I highly recommend Takayas."

It was a lot of fun collaborating with both of them on their rings' designs. We couldn't ask for a nicer couple to work with!
