Your Name Inspired Wedding Ring

From the moment Taki awoke in his bed with Mitsuha’s name etched onto his skin, he knew she was the one worth remembering; however difficult to hold onto. A film dripping in lessons of opportunity and fate, Your Name inspired Belinda and Chad to hold each other closer in the form of Belinda’s wedding ring.

Of her inspiration, she says: “The two characters from the movie represent my fiance and I really well and we are actually cosplaying them this year together.” Resonant are the images of iridescent, sweeping comets, whilst a rainbow-colored ribbon gently wraps around Taki and Mitshua, breaking only to lasso stars out of the sky in deliverance. With all elements in place, Belinda holds not just a ring on her finger, but a crest, holding inside its many meanings.

Takayas, moved by the film, incorporated its tangible and intangible symbols to give the ring a distinctive yet subtle romanticism. A centerpiece surrounding the center diamond represents the iconic reflection from the falling star, which is framed by the two diamond "comets" on either side. Behind it, Takayas wove rose gold detailing to meet the ring’s main white gold to represent the multicolored ribbon, an essential symbol of Taki and Mitsuha’s relationship.

Like the burning familiarity Taki and Mitsuha feel when gazing into each other’s longing eyes, Belinda and Chad’s story begins unfolding the moment one’s eyes meet her finger. Like Your Name reminds us, life lives below the surface, many times over. If we’re not holding on, it slips through our hands despite our best intentions. Belinda, however, now carrying all in her ring, lives life hands-free.
