Disney’s Moana is about a young girl and her connection to the sea. Her father Tui, Motunui’s village leader, does not approve of Moana’s curiosity to explore past the Island’s reef; however, her Grandma Tala’s, the crazy village lady, last dying wish is that Moana ventures off into the sea to return the pounamu stone to Te Fiti, bringing life back to the ocean and restoring the village.
Ryuta and Trifanny met 7 years ago, and they both share a love for nature and the ocean. Ryuta, an avid reader of our blogs and a huge admirer of Takayas’ work, came to Takayas seeking to have a custom jewelry piece made using elements from the movie Moana, because his girlfriend really loves the movie Moana and she shares many similarities with Moana. They both are intelligent, independent, compassionate, live on an island, and love the ocean.
Ryuta wanted The Plumeria Rubra Flower & Tala’s Manta Ray tattoo, important elements in the Moana movie, to be featured into the design of his bride to be’s ring. Like Grandma Tala, Trifanny has a tattoo on her back but instead of a Manta ray she has the Plumeria rubra flowers.
Takayas decided to incorporate the Plumeria rubra flower on the front and back of the ring, it being Trifanny’s favourite flower. On the shoulders of the ring, the Manta Ray was incorporated using yellow gold.
The couples thoughts on the ring:
Ryuta: “When I saw the ring for the first time I thought it was gorgeous. Trifanny loved the ring! but it is best that you hear from her.” Trifanny: “This is definitely the most beautiful and meaningful ring I’ve seen. It’s full of life and I’m happy to have such a personal and specially crafted ring to represent our promise to each other.”
