Designing this 14K rose gold and moonstone engagement ring for animal lovers Hieu and Brittany was a lot of fun. When Hieu approached us with his Caturtle concept we were definitely intrigued!
He specified that he wanted a ring that incorporated acat sitting on aturtle, but he left the placement up to us. To add a playful element as well as dimension to the ring, Takayas designed the cat to appear to be batting at the flower centerpiece from atop the turtle's shell.

Because moonstones are some of Brittany's favorite stones, Hieu requested the flower petals to be made of moonstones. In order to make sure that the ring maintained an elegant engagement ring style, we custom cut the moonstones very small so that the flower centerpiece wouldn't look overly large like in acocktail ring.
Moonstones are typically either a translucent white or they have a blueish rainbow sheen, but because we set the moonstones in a 14K rose gold band with a pink sapphire accent stone in the center, the stones in Brittany's ring actually have a delicate pink hue depending on how the light hits them. When it came time to ask the big question, Hieu planned out an incredibly sweet proposal at a local cafe that was holding a kitten adoption, complete with an acoustic guitar serenade and an origami bouquet. He presented her with thiscustom made ring box, and of course, she said yes!
