Takayas & Co. Guarantee

Takayas & Co. stands by the quality and craftsmanship of our jewelry. It is important to us that you are completely happy with your order, which is why each piece is individually handmade according to the highest standards.

Takayas & Co. guarantees that your fine jewelry purchase is free from defects in craftsmanship upon delivery, and will be happy to refresh your jewelry item for free within the first year of purchase, and at a reasonable cost afterwards. (You will be responsible for any shipping fees incurred.)

We encourage you to wear your Takayas & Co. jewelry every day but, common sense precautions should be taken to extend the life of your jewelry. Beyond normal wear, activities such as gardening, weight lifting, swimming, etc., may cause damage to your jewelry that is not covered by the first year guarantee and may not be possible to repair. Typical damage caused by normal daily wear is easily identifiable by a professional jeweler such as Takayas. Negligent use or abuse of your Takayas & Co. jewelry may void the terms of your guarantee. Taking your jewelry to another jeweler for repair services will also void the terms of your guarantee.

Should you have any concerns about the quality or integrity of your Takayas & Co. jewelry, contact us immediately at inquire@takayas.com or call us at (213) 538-8252.

Diamond Certification

We want you to feel 100% comfortable working with us, and will provide you with everything you want to know about your diamond. All of our 0.50 ct and larger diamonds come with an official dossier or certificate from either GIA (the Gemological Institute of America, which standardized diamond grading by introducing the Four Cs) or EGL (the European Gemological Laboratory), as they are the two most popular independent laboratories used for diamond grading.

Your diamond's certificate will include a diagram of your stone's unique internal and external characteristics, (think of this as your diamond's fingerprint,) as well as a report specifying the carat weight, cut, color, and clarity details of your diamond.

Some diamonds have an identification number laser engraved on their girdle. If the diamond we select for you does not already have this engraving but you would like it to, we can have this added by GIA for an additional charge. Please understand that this extra service will increase the turnaround time for your custom project.

Gemstone Guarantee

We will replace, free of charge, any small accent diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, or other colored stones if they chip, break, or are lost from their original setting within the first year of purchase, and at a reasonable cost afterwards. Any necessary repairs must also be completed by Takayas & Co. to maintain this guarantee.

Lifetime Mounting Guarantee

We guarantee your ring's mounting against all defects in craftsmanship, and we will repair or replace your mounting without charge if any craftsmanship defects are found. This guarantee is solely for the original purchaser and is non-transferable. We cannot cover damage due to the natural aging of materials, but will quote a reasonable cost for any repairs of this nature.

Ring Sizing / Resizing Policy

Ideally, your ring will fit comfortably when you receive it. However, if you are purchasing the ring as a gift or engagement ring, we understand that secretly finding out a ring size can be a little tricky and the ring may require resizing.

Whenever possible, we recommend visiting a local jewelry store to determine your ring size, since using a paper sizer printed from the internet can be less than accurate.

Our rings can be made in 1/2 sizes, or even special-ordered in 1/4 sizes if desired but, please be aware that special orders cannot be returned.

Whenever resizing is necessary, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible so we can take care of it right away. We charge our customers very reasonable rates for resizing, which vary depending on the ring style and the degree of size change.

Return & Refund Policy for Custom Orders

Any jewelry piece commissioned as a custom design or special order is non-returnable and non-refundable. Our guarantee is that the finished piece will match the final design rendering you approve,  including specified dimensions, all design elements, stone size and type, as well as metal type.

Because Takayas creates all of his designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software, the renders you receive are enlarged computer generated images of your piece so, there is a chance that your actual jewelry's scale may differ from your expectations. Also, the CAD software has a limited library of gemstone shapes and colors so, the shape and color of your actual stone may vary slightly from the rendering. Takayas is a certified gemologist and can guarantee the quality of the stone(s) he selects for you however, if you would like to see a photograph of your specific gemstone before it is set in your custom piece, we can provide images upon request.

Although each design is created using computer technology, Takayas assembles and finishes each piece by hand. Please know that all handmade jewelry will differ slightly due to a variety of factors inherent in the handmade process.

Custom Order Delivery Time

Delivery time for custom orders depends on Takayas' schedule, as each custom piece is personally made by Takayas from start to finish. Generally speaking, custom projects average 2-3 months to craft once the client commits to the design.

Ideally, Takayas likes to have as much time as possible to work on your unique design. However, ifyou do have a tight deadline, please email inquire@takayas.com and we will let you know if we can accommodate your request.

Conversely, if your deadline is far away, we do recommend making a deposit as soon as you are able, so that you can secure your spot on Takayas' design calendar, and ensure the priority of your project in case we receive a rush of orders.

The months leading up to certain seasons, such as the winter holidays and summer wedding season, are definitely busier than others and Takayas' calendar does fill up quickly during these times.

Collection Order Delivery Time

All of our collection pieces are made to order in our Los Angeles studio and require 2-3 weeks to produce. If youneed your order to be shipped by a certain date, please email inquire@takayas.com with your deadline request and we will let you know if we can accommodate your needs.

Product Care and Maintenance

With proper care, your fine jewelry item will become a treasured family heirloom.

General Care:

Store your jewelry in a soft pouch or jewelry box compartment, separated from other jewelry items. Remove your jewelry before participating in any potentially damaging activities, such as gardening, weight lifting, rock climbing, contact sports, etc. Also, avoid contact with abrasive chemical solutions such as perfumes, cosmetics, hairspray, household cleaners, chlorinated pool water, or sea salt water. Clean your jewelry gently with a solution of mild dish soap and warm water, rinsing thoroughly and polishing carefully with a soft cotton or microfiber polishing cloth.

Dust, pollution, lotion, and daily wear can all conspire to cloud the brilliance of your gemstone or dull the surface of your gold, platinum, or silver jewelry. Over time, prongs and clasps may become loose, resulting in the loss of a stone or entire pendant. For these reasons, we recommend sending your Takayas & Co. jewelry back to us for maintenance and inspection as often as once a year.

14K and 18K gold items:

Keep your gold jewelry gleaming by occasionally polishing with a microfiber polishing cloth. If your jewelry contains gemstones that have become cloudy, gently swirl your jewelry item in a solution of warm water and mild dish soap, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a soft cotton or microfiber cloth. Do not use an ultrasonic cleaner without checking with us first, as many gemstones are too fragile for this type of cleaning.

Rhodium plated jewelry:

Since gold is a naturally yellow metal, 14K and 18K white golds are not pure white. Rhodium plating is an electrodeposition technique used by jewelers to bond natural white rhodium metal particles to the surface of your gold jewelry, giving it a platinum-like white finish. This plating will wear off over time, slowly revealing the slightly yellow metal underneath, so you will occasionally need to have your white gold jewelry re-plated.

We also offer black rhodium plating to give your gold jewelry a black metal look. Black rhodium also wears off over time, just like white rhodium, but the color change is more obvious.

How long rhodium plating lasts depends on many factors, including the acidity of your personal PH and the environment in which you live. Friction is the biggest factor, which means that rhodium plating tends to wear off of frequently worn rings the fastest.

To clean your rhodium plated jewelry, rinse in warm water and polish with a soft cotton or microfiber cloth; do not use a toothbrush, even a soft one, as this can scratch the surface of your plating. Additionally, do not use an ultrasonic cleaner or any jewelry cleaning products that contain ammonia or abrasive polishing compounds. Think: "gentle".

Takayas & Co. is not responsible for third party maintenance of your jewelry and does not service jewelry purchased through other channels.

Should you wish to make any alterations to your Takayas & Co. jewelry, or require a repair, please reach out to us at inquire@takayas.com. Please note that the customer is responsible for the cost of any elective repair or alteration, as well as the cost of shipment, unless it has been determined that there is an issue with the craftsmanship of the product/ your issue is covered by the terms of the Takayas & Co. Guarantee.
