FAQ

How long will it take to get my custom order?

Our custom projects typically average 2-3 months to complete, however, since each piece is handmade by Takayas himself, please know that we do have to implement a wait list whenever Takayas' design/production calendar fills up. This can happen rather quickly so, in order to secure your project's due date, we recommend making your first deposit as soon as you are able, even if your deadline is far away.

If you were hoping to have your custom piece sooner, please let us know and Takayas will review his calendar to see if he can possibly accommodate your rush project. Ideally, Takayas prefers to have as much time as possible to work on your special project so, if your due date is at all flexible, please tell us that as well.

Once completed, orders shipped within the United States are delivered in two business days. International orders are typically delivered within a week, depending on your location.

Can I see a mock-up of my custom design before committing to work with Takayas?

Since each custom design requires a large amount of brainstorming and hands-on CAD designing time to produce renderings, please understand we cannot provide mock-ups without a commitment from the client. Of course, we understand you may be concerned about putting money toward a piece of jewelry before you've seen a design, which is why we are committed to making sure you are 100% happy with the design Takayas creates for you before it is cast in metal.

If it helps, please know you don't need to pay the full cost upfront to commit. The way our system works is we divide the total of your estimate into thirds (including insured shipping fees and taxes, if they apply,) and the first deposit of 1/3 is all that is due for Takayas to get to work brainstorming and creating your custom design renderings.

Can you use tungsten, titanium, or stainless steel to make my ring?

Unfortunately, no. Tungsten, titanium, and stainless steel are all classified as industrial strength metals and, while they are quite durable, they are impossible to shape by hand. This class of metals can only be manufactured into extremely simple bands, because they have to be cut by specialized machinery that is typically only found in mass-production factories. As a small, independent custom jewelry studio, we do not have access to this type of machinery, and the lack of ductility severely limits design options with these metals anyway.

However, we do offer a variety of precious metal options such as 14K gold, 18K gold, and platinum. For more details, please visit out Custom Options - Metals page.

Can you use black gold to make my ring?

We've noticed some companies use the term "black gold", however, the only way to make gold appear black is to plate it with black rhodium. If you would like a black metal look, we would be happy to do this for you, just know that this is not a permanent treatment; black rhodium plating will eventually wear off in 4 months to a year, depending on the lifestyle of the wearer. From time to time, you will have to re-plate the ring.

Can you engrave something inside my ring?

We would be happy to engrave something inside your ring! Please send us an email with your desired engraving so we can confirm if it will fit inside your ring as well as provide a quote for the service.

Can my ring be resized later if necessary?

Yes, you can read our Ring Sizing / Resizing Policy here.

Do you offer financing?

Our apologies but, as a small independent custom jewelry business, we are unable to provide financing. However, we do offer a three payment system which many of our clients find helpful.

Please know that you don't need to pay the full cost upfront. The way our system works is we divide the average of your estimate into thirds (including shipping and taxes, if they apply.) The first deposit of 1/3 of the cost is all that is due for Takayas to begin working on your project.

The second payment is then due mid-way through production once we finalize the cost, and the third is due upon completion before pick up or delivery. We can always split the second and third payments into smaller increments over time as well if it helps! Due to the creative nature of the custom process, prices may change due to any adjustments you choose to make. These changes in price will be adjusted in the remaining payments. Of course, no change in price or design will be made without your approval.
